The Sneak #1

The Greet and Sneak

I have this conversation with friends quite often:

Person A: I saw [Person C] at the shop today.

Person B: Did you say hi?

Person A: No, I totally did the sneak and ran off. I feel horrible!

Person B: That’s fine, I did it to [Person D] yesterday!

So why do we have this fear of meeting people we know around town? Basically, it should be harmless to at least say hi…

I discussed this phenomenon with a friend recently, and as we were talking I drew a bunch of doodles that made us both laugh, because we always feel stupid after sneaking off when we could just say hi to someone. So I’ll post these for fun, but it’s not intended as a guide like:

“How to never talk to people, ’cause people are gross”. Not the point.

I feel like the problem is mainly in the Sneaker’s head, and the Sneakee has less to do with it. Sometimes you want to say hi and sometimes you don’t, and it’s fine.

Winter casual lady warm colours

… freezing! Winter is cold. I even wear a coat indoors at the moment. This drawing of a calm and casual winter woman in warmly coloured surroundings helps. Kind of.

Also – yay, I did a bunch of drawings this week. Last week, two of my friends (at separate occasions) told me to get back to the doodles again, so I did. Also because I want to, but somehow I forget that I love it!

It might sound a bit crazy that I’d forget to do something that is literally my all-time favorite thing. I guess that’s what friends are for:

Reminding you to do things you like, when you forget them.

Wow it’s leaning towards soppy, this first post of 2016. Oh well, it’s a soppy season. Happy January everyone – stay warm AND/OR draw warm things.

What on earth did I just draw?
What on earth did I just draw?

Okay so. I drew this doodle about 6 weeks ago. Most often I switch off my thoughts while I’m drawing, and it’s only afterwards I try to decide what they mean. Based on the shape and colour of the above doodle, I initially thought:

“These look like colourful clouds from the 80’s or something! Nice to do some abstract work.”

But since then I’ve started working with social media, and I keep hearing Danes use the word “shitstorm” about situations in which a company gets a massive amount of bad press on social media.

Now all I can see in my colourful cloudy doodle are flying turds. Oh well. At least it led to this new non-abstract definitely-a-turd doodle:
