Bike practice

Time to practice my bike drawing skills! I’ve always found it almost impossible to draw a bike that looks normal. And, apparently, I’m not the only one, which Gianluca Giminis fantastic project Velocipedia clearly shows (shown to me by a certain bike nerd who plays an important role in this post).

I’ve become quite happy with mountainbiking these past couple of years. Fortunately, I live with the mentioned bike expert/nerd who is willing to help me improve my biking skills as well as my drawing skills.

Here are my doodles from today with a couple of helpful comments:

I don’t know what the last comment means. But I guess it matches my skills on an actual mountainbike quite well, since I’m probably about 25 years behind everyone else on the trail.

It’s raining pets

Last weekend I went to visit my parents (and their cat and dog) and I’ve been drawing heaps of friendly pets since then. Here’s a selection:

My parents’ pets are in a love-scratch relationship (the dog loves the cat and the cat scratches the dog in its big drooling face).

I drew these beasts individually on paper and then gave them a bit of digital editing (and put them together two and two).

Rams onions

There are ramsons everywhere around the city right now, and it’s so nice with something green to look at outside (before the garlic smell takes over later in Spring).

Btw I had to look up what these plants are called in English, because I only knew the Danish term “ramsløg” – (rams onions). I of course ended up reading about the etymology of the word, because linguistics!

I’m digging the digital at the moment, so I drew this in Illustrator with my Wacom drawing tablet.

Mouse GIF’ing you a thumbs up

I’ve recently started drawing on my computer with a drawing tablet. It’s an amazing new world of erasing and drawing straight lines and smushing and playing with different brushes and colours. At the same time it’s kind of frustrating, and I feel like I’m a 5-year-old learning to draw.

Almost at the exact day that I decided to go digital, the weather decided to be nice. So today I brought my laptop outside to experiment with making GIFs. It’s not a perfect situation to work outside, but definitely nice. Kind of like this half-heartedly encouraging mouse giving us all a thumbs up for trying new things.
