Note bat

This creepy bat is a bit late for Halloween, but here it is:

I’ve been organizing (and throwing away) a lot of my old notes from university, and this tiny bat was one of the (many!) doodles that showed up in the paper pile. Today I decided to colour it in digitally. I’ll share more old doodles when I find good ones!

About being late for Halloween – I planned a casual Halloween hang with some friends last Friday (2 November) – and planned to do some good old pumpkin carving. But there were no pumpkins to be found in ANY of the shops in my area! I get that Halloween is 31 October, but I thought maybe they kept a bit of the Halloween stuff in stores over the weekend. Nope – advent calendars and Christmas candy  everywhere!

So instead of carving pumpkins I gave into the early Christmas spirit and made gingerbread cookies with this great recipe by Smittenkitchen.

I didn’t have a pumpkin cookie cutter, so we made them by using a round cookie cutter and then shaping the rest with a knife – it’s easier than it sounds! I had an owl cookie cutter (obviously?) – and owls turn into monsters very easily with a bit of sprinkles.

Stretch Pumpkin:

I didn’t get to drawing yesterday, because I spent the day applying for jobs, making a silly video for my own entertainment, knitting a red, woolly hat for my boyfriend and playing boardgames with friends. All in all a great Friday!

It worked out fine that I didn’t make my Inktober drawing yesterday, because I found my inspiration for the prompt ‘stretch’ today – Looking out the window I noticed this very tall pumpkin on a window ledge on the opposite building.

I added the small one in the drawing for fun. I love drawing pumpkins!

The most cruel thing you can say to a pumpkin this close to Halloween is probably:

People sometimes tell me my drawings are cute. I guess they are, and I mostly don’t mind getting the comment, because I know I like to draw cute and fun things.

However, I don’t necessarily aim for every doodle to turn out cute, it often just happens anyway!

I also draw a lot of ugly, half-finished, abstract, boring and weird doodles that don’t make it to the blog. But I might start sharing some of those, for more artistic diversity.

Happy doodloween

My first ever Rhett and Link fanart (that’s made its way to the blog). Woooo! Happy halloween everyone.
We used to never really celebrate Halloween in Denmark, but now everyone makes pumpkin lanterns, and I just said hi to a “corpse bride and her dead cat” in my hallway. It’s great!

I’m celebrating with cake, Depeche Mode and my daily dose of Good Mythical Morning which is the best show. Ever.
