Hello everyone, it’s a new year and I’m here! And apparently I’m rhyming now. I’ve been doodling a lot this past month, especially on paper – but haven’t managed to get anything posted on here. Until now!
On my street there’s this handrail down to a basement shop that reaches out into the narrow sidewalk. This situation makes it difficult for people to pass each other, and it inspired a couple of doodles:
The people are made up and not actual characters I’ve seen on the street, but I love drawing random people, and especially deciding what outfits to put them in.
I might make more of these, especially since it took me forever to draw the background. But it was a fun challenge to draw something with a bit of perspective. Also – fun fact: I had to google “car” to get close to drawing something that looked anything like the back of a car.
Process: I drew the sketch for the background on paper first, then transferred it to Illustrator and redrew it digitally. And then I added a digital sketch of the people, put in some colours and then drew the final black line.
I drew this last week listening to A Christmas Carol on audiobook:
I didn’t finish the book yet, but it’s fun and scary and helped me get in the proper Christmas spirit 😃 Today is chill day for me, because the big Christmas celebration with my family was yesterday on 24 December. But happy Humbug Day to people celebrating today!
I drew Snape and Umbridge while listening to the 5th Harry Potter book:
But Umbridge is THE WORST so I’ll make her small.
And I didn’t do any digital editing on her, ’cause boo Umbridge.
I’m already on book 6, but am almost to concentrated and excited/scared to doodle while listening, because I know what’s coming and I’m not in a hurry for the horror 😨
We also watched the first two Harry Potter movies this week so that’s confusing and fun. And after listening to the books, I catch myself saying “that’s not like the book, noooo!” literally every 5 minutes. But still enjoying the movie very much!
Some new Harry Potter doodles that I drew last week:
Fawkes the phoenix plays an important role in the second Harry Potter book that I just finished, so I wanted to draw the cute reborn version of him ❤
I love the scene where Harry is in Dumbledore’s office for the first time and happens to see Fawkes burst into flames. And Dumbledore just casually says: “I’m sorry you had to see him on a burning day” or something like that 😂
And I did not feel like drawing a basilisk doodle!
Yes, the Potter doodles are continuing – I don’t feel like drawing anything else at the moment. These books make so many images pop up in my head!
The first Harry Potter book was over way too soon! I didn’t realise that I’d listened to almost the entire book yesterday and only had 45 minutes of listening left today 😮
The book was just as good as I remembered and I smiled and sobbed a lot while listening. And now I finally get to draw Voldemort, yay!
I’ve had this image in my head all day and finally had time to get it down on paper. Voldemort is so scary that I just have to draw a silly version to make me less scared going into the second book.
Guess which audiobook I’ve started listening to today!
Yup, it’s Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone, read by Steven Fry.
There’s Quirrell and Norbert and Quidditch and magic and friendships and it’s SO GREAT.
The last time I listened to the book was about 18 months ago on a roadtrip to Berlin. And before that – when I was 11 years old I read the Philosopher’s Stone in Danish. I’m as amazed now as I was then by how good it is.
I especially had fun drawing Ron’s long nose and Harry’s hair as wild as it’s described in the book.
