Foodles

I’m on a cooking / baking binge right now and realised that I needed to do bring some food doodles to the blog. Foodles? No.

I thought the binge would last maybe the first 3-5 days of my summer vacation, but now I’m on week 3 and still baking away.

I made my own sourdough starter right before going on our bike trip and was very worried if it would survive 2 weeks in the fridge (which the recipe said it would).

My initial excitement over the witchcraft that is sourdough (where do the bubbles and the yeast and the wonderful sour smell come from?*) led to this little doodle in my notebook:

From weird goo to lovely loaf!

It seems my starter survived and I’ve fed it and baked some wonderful sourdough loaves since we got home.

It seems sourdough is somewhat of a trend (at least on YouTube and Instagram) so now I spend quite a bit of time checking out recipes and images of beautiful bread. I really like the show “It’s Alive with Brad” on the Bon Appetit YouTube channel and have watched the sourdough episode with Brad and Claire like 5 times.

Napping bag

I love it when summer is a bit chilly and windy (like in Denmark at the moment) so I can hang out outside in the shade in my sleeping bag.

We’re testing out our camping gear at the moment to prepare for a bike packing trip next week. So I need to REALLY check if my sleeping bag is good.

We spent two nights in our new tent in the garden, which was so fun that it almost made me want to stay home. But (luckily) we have family and friends to visit, so we have to pack up the tent and get going soon.

Duke Silver

I’m watching Parks and Recreation for the (just about) 10th time at the moment. It’s still such a great show, and it makes me appreciate working in an office! Even though there’s (a lot) less crazy stuff happening all the time where I work (luckily).

This is Ron Swanson’s face in Season 2, Episode 4 when Tom discovers Ron’s secret identity as Duke Silver, the smooth talking saxophone man:

Hi!

Living together means trying not to annoy your partner every second of every day. But… it’s difficult. So instead of being annoying IRL for a bit I made this gif 😀

I havent’ made a lot of animations so it takes me a while (read hours!). But I think the result is hilarious so it’s totally worth it.

I was in a hurry to get to the animation part so I drew the doodles quite fast, forgetting my glasses and other details. Also, I always draw hands wrong – the thumb is always on the opposite side of where it’s supposed to be. So you’ll notice me turning around in the middle of creeping up.

Hi!

Mermay and blurmay

This week I discovered #mermay on Instagram, and since then I’ve had a lot of fun looking at the merpeople art in many different styles. And I, of course, had to draw my own.

Mermay

In a lot of art with merpeople they are pictured looking like they are posing for the camera, which is fun, but I wanted to make this mermaid swim like she’s just going about her normal mer-business.

After finishing the drawing, I also made a second version without the pencil lines – for a more mysterious, blurry and magical look:

Blurmay

I’m impressed with the commitment that some artists have to draw each day like with #mermay and #inktober etc. It inspires me to draw something every day too, even though it’s just a tiny doodle sometimes.

Throwback bike doodle

Throwback to biking around icy Copenhagen a month ago with this guy:

I only slipped once in the snow while cycling and managed to jump off my bike and throw it aside – and LAND ON MY FEET! The rest of the trip was peaceful yet cold (but there were croissants).

The weather is starting to look a bit like Spring, and I can’t wait for a season with lots of biking. And hopefully no falling, since I’ve probably used up all my luck that one time landing ON. MY. FEET.
